✓ Obtain an FAA Medical Certificate conducted by an FAA-designated aviation medical examiner (AME). Your CFI will provide you with a list of the local AME’s in the area.
✓ Obtain a Student Pilot Certificate. This will be issued by your CFI using the IACRA system. You will need to bring supporting documentation of U.S. citizenship when applying for the Student Pilot Certificate:
✓ Driver’s License or photo ID
✓ Unexpired U.S. Passport
✓ U.S. birth certificate
✓ Speak, write, and understand English.
✓ Pass FAA pilot knowledge test, which consists of 60 multiple-choice questions and is administered at an FAA-designated computer testing center.
